For the eleventh time in a row, the tutoring institute received the top mark and thus secured the top position. Recent reports show that the socio-economic background of parents in Germany continues to have a significant influence on the reading skills and academic success of their children. Where do pupils get the best, targeted support when things aren’t going so well at school and their grades could be better? “Focus Money” and “Deutschland Test” have tested and analyzed tutoring institutes for the tenth time. 1,523 testers assessed 17 service and performance features of 22 tutoring providers. Twelve tutoring institutes achieved an above-average rating and made it into the 2023 ranking list.

The “Targeted Support” study shows: Lernstudio Barbarossa is once again the test winner in 2023 and once again achieved the top score of “very good” four times. The Lernstudio achieved the highest score in the areas of “value for money” and “range of services”; in the areas of “tutor qualifications” and “service”, it once again achieved an A grade.
Pupils still have a lot of catching up to do
Even though the latest Pisa study shows that pupils’ English skills are improving, there is a great need for extra tuition in many other subjects. German and math are still the subjects most in demand.

Tutoring provider Lernstudio Barbarossa is again the test winner and once more in first place
The “grade improvers” were scrutinized for the ninth time and rated by “Deutschland Test”. Around 1,400 respondents assessed tutoring providers in Germany in a nationwide study. 17 relevant service and performance features were examined and looked at more closely. The analysis and consulting firm ServiceValue, commissioned by “Deutschland Test” and “Focus-Money”, evaluated a total of 1,840 respondents’ assessments of 22 tutoring providers, eleven of which received an above-average rating.
Lernstudio Barbarossa also rated “very good” in 2022 and improved its score again
Once again, the “grade improvers” were examined, compared and evaluated in a total of 17 features. Lernstudio Barbarossa was once again able to achieve the grade “very good” in 2022 with an improvement in points and once again became Germany’s best tutoring provider in the test.
We achieved the top score of “very good” in all four areas examined. In the categories “Product and performance” and “Service”, Lernstudio is the tutoring institute with the highest score.
High need for support among pupils as a result of the pandemic
Not only are many industries struggling with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic; traces are also visible among our pupils. Many students have lost touch with their class at some point due to homeschooling. Suddenly they were on their own, unable to meet their teacher or classmates in person and ask questions, let alone learn together in a group – an insurmountable hurdle for a large proportion of pupils. More than 1,000 respondents rated the 22 leading tutoring providers in Germany. Which tutoring service is the best? In an online panel, questions were asked about 17 relevant service and performance features. In addition to product and service, the survey covered the qualifications of the tutors, the service provided by the tutoring providers and the price-performance ratio for the tutoring. 1,818 assessments were collected and evaluated. Half of the 22 tutoring providers received an above-average rating and were therefore included in the ranking of the best tutoring providers.
Germany’s tutoring providers were also examined by Deutschland Test and Focus-Money in 2021. “The grade boosters” writes Focus-Money about the article in the latest issue. Lernstudio Barbarossa once again achieved a top result in 2021: a grade of “very good” in all categories that were scrutinized. This grade means that our “A” rating is even better than the average of the institutes that were rated “good”.
